HIV Rapid Test In Community And Sensitization Outreach

HIV Rapid Test In Community And Sensitization Outreach.  Helpers Social Development Foundation starts a Free HIV rapid test in rural communities in Enugu State to reduce the spread of HIV in our society through the support of our donor. The program ended in February 2021. The aim of the program is to capture and refer those affected with HIV to nearby state or federal government hospitals for free medication, in other to reduce the spread of the disease.

Due to the poverty rate in the country Nigeria, the majority of poor Nigerians do not have the fund to check their health status and some lack interest to know their HIV status due to stigmatization attached to those affected by HIV in our society. We aim to bridge that gap by initiating the idea of a Free HIV testing community and sensitized people to the need to know their HIV status.

We identified 53 positive patients during our outreach and referred them to a nearby hospital for medical examination and free treatment.
